Some of her notable feats include summiting Mount Saser Kangri I (25,200 ft) in 1990 with the Indo-Taiwanese Expedition in Eastern Karakoram, becoming the youngest climber to reach the summit at 19.She has also participated in the First Alpine Style Climbing Camp, climbing Mount Hanuman Tibba (19,500 ft). In 1991, she climbed Mount Kamet (25,446 ft) and Mount Abhigamin (24,131 ft) with the All-Women Pre Everest-Expedition sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and IMF. This feat was quickly followed by summiting Mount Mamostang Kangri (24,659 ft) in 1992. In 2004, she successfully led an IMF All Women expedition to Mount White Sail (21,062 ft) and another to Mount Mulkila 4 (21,380 ft), achieving the first women's ascent of the mountain. Another outing she holds close to her heart is the ascent to Mount Manirang (21630 ft), which was to celebrate 25 years of her Indo-Nepalese Everest expedition.
As a woman mountaineer, she has motivated many other women from hills to take up climbing as a profession. For her contributions towards popularizing this sport, she has been honoured with many awards and accolades. Some of the prominent ones include the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award in 1994, Himachal Government State Award and Bharat Gaurav puraskaar from Haryana Government.
She has also volunteered as the Honorary Treasurer at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) for two years and has been a member since 1995.
With a Masters degree in English Literature and Masters in Business Administration from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, she has skilfully turned her passion into a profession today.
Besides mountaineering, she takes keen interest in playing Golf and has represented Oman in AUDI World Cup Austria in 2018. She loves farming, especially rearing cows and enjoys working in her apple orchard.
